Great Grandmother Kitty Edds had seven children and each Christmas they all gathered at her home to open gifts. As the children married and had children of their own, the crowd grew significantly. At some point a decision was
made to have a large family gathering on Christmas Eve, and for individual families to open gifts at their homes on Christmas morning. It was Pa and Granny’s turn to host the family gathering this year. Twenty Edds were in attendance including three of Grandmother Kitty’s children, five of her grandchildren and six of her great grandchildren. As a child I remember how much I looked forward to seeing my cousins each Christmas Eve, and I still do. Now our children are playing together and experiencing a taste of what it’s like to be a part of a large family.
