Christmas Traditions link us with the past
Another Edds tradition is attending Christmas eve services at First Baptist Church. This first Christmas, the boys were joined by their parents and both sets of grandparents. With Pastor Paul Strahan out of town, retired Pastor David Nelson delivered the message. Dr. Nelson was FBC's pastor from the mid-1960's until the mid-1990's. It struck me that we were holding these little boys listening to Dr. Nelson's strong familiar voice just as my parents had held me while listening to his Christmas message over 40 years ago. We sat just a few feet away from the seat that their great-grandmother Kittie Edds favored for Dr. Nelson's sermons every Sunday. Traditions make for rich inheritances.
