Coyote Tranquility

Wikipedia defines the term "coyote ugly" as urban slang for a situation that results in waking up next to an ugly bedmate after a night of drinking; in such a situation one might prefer to chew off one's own arm, like a coyote with its paw in a trap, rather than wake up the bedmate.

Similarly, we would like to create the term “coyote tranquility” to refer to the situation where a fussy child is finally sleeping in your arms after hours of rocking and comforting, and despite your own intense pain and discomfort you would rather chew off your own arm rather than risk moving it and waking the little screaming banchee.
