Over the last couple of weeks both boys have developed a social smile. We observed occasional smiles before, but those were just likely due to gas. These new social smiles are reciprocal, responding to our smiles as we hold them. This indicates that their eyesight is improving and their brains are maturing. As they focus on our smiling faces looking at them, they produce their own smiles in return. In this way, they are beginning to communicate with us. Trey was the first to begin social smiling and Benji followed about a week later. Frown and you frown alone, but smile and the whole world smiles with you.
