Back on Track

Sometimes a parent needs to get their child’s attention. We use various techniques and one of the most effective is removing the favorite toy as punishment. Last week, Davey made a number of poor decisions at school and his behavior was documented and shared with us by his teacher. Everything he did was relatively minor and easily correctable, but this strong-willed child needed an attitude adjustment. After a long discussion we decided to close the door to the train room for a week and add his Legos to the off-limits area. As he always does, Davey came around and was an angel of good behavior the next week and earned his toy’s liberty. To celebrate he built a new train out of Legos with a 7-window passenger car pulled by a steam locomotive.
