Frozen

The temperature at dawn this morning was -6 deg. F with a wind chill around -20. The city school superintendent suspended todays’ classes without hesitation early yesterday morning in anticipation of this cold front’s arrival. Local event cancellations were abundant as organizers expected attendees would elect to stay home rather than brave the cold conditions. Our Scout meeting on Monday and basketball practice on Tuesday were cancelled and I fully expected swimming lessons to be postponed as well, but the YMCA surprised me by not backing down to the weather. We were so happy! Four days of cabin fever needed to be vented and back to back swimming sessions would do the trick. The inside of the Family Y was comfortable and the boys said the warm water felt great. This photo illustrates that they got a little cold afterwards in the locker room, but I dried them out with a hair drier, bundled them up and got them home safely where they crawled in warm beds and slept like babies.
