Book Fair
Huckster – noun – a person who sells small items, either door-to-door or
from a stall or small store. This is what they are teaching our kids in school
these days. It all begins so innocently. The school is having a concert or an
assembly for the parents and “Oh look Mommy and Daddy, there’s a book fair in
the school library. Let’s go look!” This always costs me money, but they don’t
stop there. Next, these shameless hucksters invite grandparents to join them
for lunch at school and while they’re there the journey takes them through the
book fair, where the solicitation begins. It’s a cleaver plan. Who could turn
this sweet face down?
