First Practice

Today we attended our first Orioles baseball practice. This season the boys have moved up from coach pitch to machine pitch, and the tone feels a lot more serious. Here Coach Tim Hood is demonstrating the proper battling technique. One difference I see is the swing is a lot more compact. Hitting off a t, one could use a long stroke like a golfer. Benji was excellent at this and it contributed to his t-ball power. Unfortunately, that long swing technique doesn't allow him enough time to respond to the pitched ball. After his illustration, Coach Hood took the boys into the batting cage and introduced them to the machine, and they did pretty well for their first time.
